Pupils and students aged 4 up to and including 23 can get a free pass for use on CP urban trains (Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon) and regional services.
This also applies to students up to the age of 24 on integrated study programmes, such as Architecture and Urbanism, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine.
Although free of charge, the pass for young students must be topped-up every month.

Each young person can only apply for one free pass, and cannot benefit from more than one pass at the same time for:
New users must apply for a card, paying the cost of the card and present the following documents:
Lisbon Urban Trains
Go to a CP ticket office with the necessary documentation to request the card.
Once the documents have been submitted, the card will be issued within 10 working days.
Urgent requests can only be made at Lisbon Santa Apolónia Station on working days from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.. The card will be delivered within 24 hours, on the working day following the request.
For renewals and changes to the card's profile, go to the Customer Assistance Offices in Rossio or Cais do Sodré.
If you use the Lisbon Metropolitan Area adjacent to an Intermunicipal Community, you must submit:
List of CIM (Intermunicipal communities) and AM (Metropolitan Areas)
Foreign citizens who do not have a Portuguese NIF (tax identification number) must request it from the Tax Authority. Without this information we cannot issue the card.
Porto Urban Trains
Go to a CP ticket office.
The card will be issued as soon as the documents are handed in. It is delivered within 48 hours of the request.
If you use the Porto Metropolitan Area adjacent to an Intermunicipal Community, you must submit:
List of CIM (Intermunicipal communities) and AM (Metropolitan Areas)
Foreign citizens who do not have a Portuguese NIF (tax identification number) must request it from the Tax Authority. Without this information, we cannot issue the card.
Coimbra Urban, Regional and InterRegional Trains
Go to a CP ticket office to request the card.
Once the documents have been submitted, the card will be issued within 10 working days.

Lisbon Urban Trains - Print out and fill in the form before going to the point of sale.
Porto Urban Trains - Go to the point of sale.
Coimbra Urban, Regional and InterRegional Trains - Go to the point of sale.
The card will be valid for a maximum of 4 years, until the end of the month in which you turn 19 (if you are a student up to and including the age of 18) or 24 (if you are a higher education student).
To have access to the free Under 18+TP / Under 23+TP Student monthly pass, you must top it up at a CP ticket office, upon presentation of the corresponding card.
Every year, from the start of the new school year, beneficiaries of the free Under 23+TP Student ticket must present a new proof of enrolment at a national educational unit in order to renew their right to the free ticket.

If you no longer benefit from the free student pass (Under 18+TP / Student Under 23+TP), you can get a Youth Pass by applying for a new card.
