The daily guided tours with our partner Bioria are available through the Oporto urban trains
Come and discover the BioRia train. The project is being run in the Aveiro Estuary and the Lower Vouga, helping to preserve nature and biodiversity and bring back the environment, as well as making people more aware of environmental education, based on sustainable development.

As you travel along the circuit, you will be able to appreciate some of the mysteries of the wildlife as long as you look carefully. Look out for some of the more subtle details, listen to the distant song of the nightingale, listen to the wind whistling in the grasses and admire the graceful stork in flight over the stunning landscape.

How to get there
Train get off at Salreu train stop and the adventure begins.
The Rio Jardim circuit- Canelas lies along part of the bank of the river that flows into the Aveiro Estuary and offers several different habitats. Visitors walking along the 2km U-shape bend on the river can see beautiful habitats and scenery as well as the large wood that hugs the river banks.
There are information boards describing the different kinds of plants and animals that live in these riverside habitats. And then there are also leisure structures such as the amazing observation tower.
How to get there
Train: get off at Salreu train stop and follow the directions (500 m southwards)
The 'Bocage' circuit begins at the Canelas water front and follows the bank until ending about 100m before the start of the Rio Jardim circuit. The 4-km U-shaped circuit takes visitors to see various characteristic habitats in this region.
This unique environment of the Lower Vouga marshes is quite unique in Europe. The 'Bocage', as it is called, is a mosaic of arable fields separated by hedgerows and narrow irrigation channels. The wide range of biodiversity in the area is due to sustainable farming practice and age-old traditional activities, which have been essential in preserving this natural heritage. The circuit crosses most of the important marine sites.
Come and discover the main species that live here, as described on the information board and take advantage of the leisure structures along the circuit.
How to get there
Train: get off at the Canelas train stop and follow the directions (300 m southwards).
Come and discover the banks of the river Antuã along a challenging nature trail starting from Largo do Esteiro in Estarreja. The 6km-long "Discover the banks of the Antuã" circuit, follows the river banks.
Visitors are invited to see some of the traditional local activities, as well as the countless species of plants and animals that live in the area. Apart from the natural beauty, visitors can also enjoy some fantastic wetland areas. The water edge with all its comings and goings along with the age-old human influence has created brilliant conditions for countless species of plants and animals.
The circuit has lots of information boards and support structures to help you find your way around.
How to get there
Train get off at Estarreja station and follow the signs westward (500 m to the south).
Includes: Oiporto urban train journey from any station (between Oporto and Braga, Guimarães, Marco de Canaveses or Aveiro) and Estarreja or the train stops at Avanca, Salreu or Canelas and back home plus guides.
Free visits are unpaid, guided tours are paid and have to be booked with CP. The guided tours are paid for directly on site.
